Natural Resource Inventory

ReservoirEvans Associates biologists are well versed in conducting natural resources assessments of properties.

The first step in the natural resources inventory is to classify the upland and wetland ecological communities on a site in the field in accordance with accepted methodologies such as those described in Ecological Communities of New York State, (Draft second edition, New York Natural Heritage Program, January 2002).  The vegetative species composition of each habitat is documented during the field investigation.  The habitats are then mapped utilizing recent color aerial photography.

The next step in conducting the natural resources inventory is to review existing data sources on species habitat preferences and ranges to determine what species may be present on the site.  Finally, site surveys utilizing accepted methodologies are conducted to document what species are present on a site.
